Slack

Slack features are spare fiber or copper maintenance loops which are additional coils of fiber or copper cable that are placed in the field for expansion or reparation purposes. To Place a slack loop, click on the Place Slack icon in the Placement section of the Fiber tab:

Note: The Place Slack command is invalid with non-graphic (or construction layer devices).
  1. The Select Equipment - SLACK dialog box opens.

  2. Select a Slack type and click OK.
  3. Select the span on the map in which to add the slack.
  4. The Slack Length dialog box opens.

  5. Key in the slack length and click OK to save.
    Note: The length keyed in must be greater than 1.
    Note: Activate the Calculate Length by Tick Marks check box to calculate the sheath length by its tick marks.

Edit a Slack

  1. To Edit a slack loop, click on the Edit Slack icon in the Modify/Delete section of the Fiber tab:

  2. Select a Slack on the map. The Slack Length dialog box opens.
  3. Key in the slack length and click OK to save.
